Waiuku Wind Farm

Project Overview

The proposed Waiuku Wind Farm will consist of 13 turbines 155m in diameter with the capability to provide 85.8 megawatts (MW) of renewable electricity to the national grid.  The proposal provides for all internal infrastructure including 20km of access roads and cabling, turbine platforms, over 1,000,000m3 of earthworks, and 20km of 33kV transmission lines.

All environmental aspects of the project were considered including ecology (avifauna, long-tail bats, wetlands), visual effects, erosion and sediment control, transport etc.

As project manager, MPS coordinated the wide and diverse team of experts, planners and lawyers, to deliver a coherent fast track resource consent within a very limited timeframe. This included interface with consenting authorities and stakeholders.

Subsequent to the application, MPS was responsible for coordinating and managing all responses to the EPA and their experts.
