The Roskill South Development is part of the larger Roskill Development which will provide around 10,500 new homes over the next 10-15 years. Around 260 state houses will be removed or demolished to make way for up to 900 new homes in Roskill South over the next five to six years. Old state housing in the area is to be replaced with a variety of new terraced homes and apartments and involves upgrading the infrastructure to future proof it for the community.
The project involved upgrading and installation of additional stormwater and wastewater networks, site remediation of sites due to contaminated soils in the area, construction of new vehicle crossings and JOALs, and reinstatement of existing roads and footpaths.
MPS worked as the Engineers Representative for Stage 1 and 2 of the Roskill South and Owairaka Site Remediation and Civil Works Contract. The initial contract and associated separable portions came to a total contract sum of around $16 million. MPS was responsible for ensuring the contract was administered appropriately on behalf of the principle and duties included, issuing NTEs, running meetings, valuing of variations, issuing practical completion certificates and issuing payment certificates among other tasks.
In addition, MPS was appointed as a key member of the Infrastructure Working Groups working collaboratively with Auckland Council’s Auckland Housing Project Office on identifying infrastructure requirements for future developments by Kāinga Ora.
