Wynyard Quarter Tank Farm Re-development

Project Overview

Over the next 15 to 20 years, 37 hectares of Wynyard Quarter will be transformed from an industrial area into a new mixed use waterfront development, including over 5,000 residents, over 200,000m2 of new office area, significant new public open space and a new events centre, while also retaining and enhancing the existing fishing and marine industries in the area.

This is the biggest waterfront development in New Zealand and a true brownfield redevelopment with many similarities to Unitec’s Carrington Campus redevelopment.

Over a seven year period on contract to Waterfront Auckland MPS was responsible for:

- Completing the Regional and District Plan Modifications for the re-development, including coordination of over 20 expert witnesses required for the Council hearings and working with key stakeholders, such as existing industry.
- Securing resource consents and managing compliance for the early development projects, including the now complete Jellicoe Street, North Wharf Restaurants, Silo Park, and Daldy Street Linear Park. Throughout this process MPS worked closely with many key Council members, fostering positive and lasting working relationships.
- Management of technical work to support development and business cases, including contamination, traffic and transport, industrial risk assessments and urban design.
- Working with contractors, Council and local stakeholders during construction to resolve various critical path issues in the lead up to and prior to the opening of the Rugby World Cup.
